About
Sherry Fleming
In 2000, Sherry Fleming’s passion for helping people heal from eating disorders led her into the field of Psychology. She began her career at Monte Nido, a residential program for people with eating disorders. Sherry’s initial position was as a Support Staff and eventually worked her way up to Assistant Clinical Director.
Sherry served as the Clinical Director at The Eating Disorder Center of California (PHP & IOP) and Reconnect Trauma Treatment Center (RTC), both of which were the first of their kind.
In 2012, Sherry began working with clients diagnosed with DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) which she received the majority of her training in DID while working for Dr. Karol Darsa. She is fully trained in Eye Movement Desensitizing and Reprocessing (EMDR), Brain Spotting (BSP), and Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM) and has received extensive training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Emotional-Focused Therapy (EFT).
Sherry provides consultation for licensed clinicians and continues to speak at events and conferences.
Currently, Sherry shares her time between her private practice in Woodland Hills, CA and working as a meal coach in Seattle (services are provided both virtually and in-person).
Services
Having recovered from anorexia and bulimia, I felt pulled to show others that it is possible to actually fully recover. This led me to becoming a therapist and working with not only eating disorders, but trauma, couples and families. I feel honored to have witnessed healing in individuals and families which was brought about because one person had the courage to show up and get help with healing from their eating disorder. While I am fully trained in EMDR, Brainspotting and the Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM), I know that the most important component for healing is having someone who has been there and can walk with you and guide you on your journey into the light.
Relationship
Therapy
It is estimated that nearly half of all married couples get divorced and about one in five marriages experience distress at some time. Challenges with affection, communication, disagreements, and fears of divorce are some of the most common reasons couples reach out for help. Couples who are dissatisfied with their relationship may turn to a variety of sources for help including online courses, self-help books, retreats, workshops, and couples counseling with Sherry Fleming.
PTSD
Not everyone with PTSD has been through a dangerous event. Some experiences, like the sudden, unexpected death of a loved one, can also cause PTSD. Symptoms usually begin early, within 3 months of the traumatic incident, but sometimes they begin years afterward. Symptoms must last more than a month and be severe enough to interfere with relationships or work to be considered PTSD. The course of the illness varies. Some people recover within 6 months, while others have symptoms that last much longer. In some people, the condition becomes chronic.
